OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES AND SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

To enter, email us an original, true camping disaster story of no more than 500 words. We'll post the entries online and author Heather Menicucci will select the best story to win a tent and a martini set. Email all contest entries to: camping@tenspeed.com. All entries must be true, original, unpublished, and may not have won any prize or award.
 
NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF
WINNING. Contest begins July 1, 2007 and ends August 31, 2007. Entries must be in by midnight PDT on July 31st, 2007. Each entry can only be submitted once. There is one way to enter: by email. No other method of entry will be accepted. Participants must be 21 years or older to enter.
 
You agree that when you send a Submission via email to this Website, you grant Ten Speed Press a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use the work. We may use, copy, sublicense, adapt, transmit, distribute, publish, display or otherwise use it as we see fit, in our sole discretion, for all time, and we may also grant this right to third parties. By making a Submission, you waive the right to make any claim against Ten Speed Press, its owners or any of its respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, employees, agents, directors, officers and shareholders relating to the Submission, including, but not limited to, unfair competition, invasion of privacy, negligence, breach of implied contract or breach of confidentiality. Without limitation of the foregoing, we shall exclusively own all now-known or hereafter existing rights to the Submissions of every kind and nature throughout the universe and shall be entitled to unrestricted use of the Submission for any purpose whatsoever, commercial or otherwise, without any compensation to the provider of the Submission.
 
You also agree that we shall be free to use any ideas, concepts or techniques embodied in the Submissions for any purpose whatsoever, including, but not limited to, developing, manufacturing, and marketing products or services incorporating such ideas, concepts, or techniques. In addition, you hereby waive all moral rights you may have in any materials uploaded or sent to us by you. Except where prohibited by law, entry constitutes permission to use winners' entry, name, story, hometown, voice, likeness, photograph, and any statements regarding this contest for editorial, public relations, promotional and advertising purposes on behalf of Ten Speed Press without compensation.
 
You understand that all information, data, text, software, music, sound, photographs, graphics, video, messages or other materials ("Content"), whether publicly posted or privately transmitted, are the sole responsibility of the person from which such Content originated. This means that you, and not us, are entirely responsible for all Content that you upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available to us. Under no circumstances will we be liable in any way for the Content, including, but not limited to, for any errors or omissions in any Content, or for any loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of the use of any Content posted, emailed, transmitted or otherwise made available via the www.tenspeed.com website.
 
Ten Speed Press assumes no responsibility for lost, late, misdirected, illegible or mutilated entries or for any computer, online, telephone, cable, network, electronic or Internet hardware or software malfunctions, failures, connections, availability, garbled or jumbled transmissions, service provider, Internet, web site, or other accessibility or availability issues, traffic congestion, or unauthorized human intervention, or any technical malfunctions that may occur.
 
This Contest is open only to legal residents of the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico). Participants must be 21 years or older to enter. Employees of Philip Wood, Inc. (Ten Speed Press), their subsidiaries, affiliates, prize suppliers, and advertising and promotional agencies of Philip Wood, Inc., and their immediate families (spouse, parents, children, siblings and their spouses) and individuals living in the same household as such employees are ineligible. This Contest is governed by the laws of the United States and is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Void in Puerto Rico and where prohibited.
 
Winners will be selected by author Heather Menicucci on the basis of writing style (25%), originality (25%), humor (25%), and level of calamity (25%) from among all eligible entries received. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the decisions of the judge, which shall be final and binding in all respects. Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received. All prizes will be awarded. Winners will be notified via email by Sept 15, 2007 at 7pm PDT.
 
There will be one (1) winner selected and one (1) prize package granted. The winner will receive one prize package that includes one (1) book, (1) tent, and (1) cocktail set (two glasses and a cocktail shaker). The prize cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion. Ten Speed Press reserves the right to substitute a prize of any value in the event the offered prize is unavailable. No substitution or transfer of prize permitted except as provided herein.
 
All federal, state, and local taxes, fees and surcharges on prize packages are the sole responsibility of the prize winners. Prize winners may be required to execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Release of
Liability/Prize Acceptance Form within seven (7) days following notification. Return of any prize and/or prize notification as undeliverable or failure of any entrant to comply with any Official Rules will result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner.
